Predeceased by his father, Evans E. Talley, M.D.; mother, Dorothy Watson Talley; and his beloved brother, John E. Talley, M.D.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Deborah; his daughters, Claire Talley, Brockport, N.Y., Pamela Talley, M.D., Louisville, Co., and Margaret Bartholomew, M.D. (Michael), Bethesda, Md.; seven grandchildren, Maclean Simonson, William Simonson, Tomas Romero Talley, Isaac Romero Talley, Isla Bartholomew, Lachlan Bartholomew and Harper Louise Bartholomew.
Tom was born in Chicago, Ill., and grew up in Enid, Okla.
A 1958 graduate of Dartmouth College, he majored in English and Latin, taught Latin at Phillips Andover Academy and attended the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine, receiving his doctorate in medicine in 1964. He trained at Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and served two years in the U.S. Navy between his internship and residency. In 1981, Tom opened the Self Care Dialysis Unit at Highland Hospital, working on site until 1995, when he took on the role of medical director at Highland until his retirement in 2000.
As a transition from a wonderfully interesting and fulfilling professional life, he and his brother John walked the 379 mile Santiago Trail in northern Spain. Two years later, they walked an additional route.
Our deepest gratitude for the exceptional, personal and humane care provided by Dr. Daniel Mendelson and the community of caregivers and staff at Highland Hospital and Monroe Community Hospital Rehab.
