Donna Maria (Edwards) Talkington, 63, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family.
Donna was born on Monday, May 12, 1958, in Altus, Oklahoma to LeeRoy and Juanieta Floy (Burks) Edwards. Donna’s family moved to Oklahoma City in 1964. She grew up and attended schools in the OKC area.
Donna married Bobby Joe Talkington on October 31, 1985, in Gainesville, Texas. Together, they raised Donna’s three children, Sherri, James, and Benjamin.
Donna attended Platt College in Moore, Oklahoma, from 1995-1996, earning a nursing degree. She worked as an LPN for 25 years. In her career she worked at Vencor Respiratory Hospital, OKC, and Grace Living Center – Brookwood, OKC, where she retired from after 16 years. Before she became a nurse, Donna worked as a professional floor installer for 20 years.
Donna was a big OU fan. Crimson and Cream was her favorite color. She always had on an OU shirt on, as she had quite the collection of them. Most importantly, Donna had a big heart and loved taking care of and helping people. She will be truly missed.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, LeeRoy and Juanieta Edwards; two sisters, Sonja Edwards, and Angela Edwards; a brother, Floyd Lee Gibson; and a sister-in-law, Tammie Edwards.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 36 years, Bobby Joe Talkington; her daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Scott Speer and their 6 children; her 2 sons, James David McCormick Jr., and Benjamin McCormick and his 2 children; brothers, Robin Edwards, and Bennie Edwards and his wife, Gail; her sister, Linda Adams; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
