Charlie Allen Tadlock

Charlie Allen Tadlock
August 29, 1935 ~ November 4, 2020

Charlie Allen Tadlock, 85, of Muskogee, OK peacefully passed into eternity while at home surrounded by family on Nov 4, 2020. He was born on Aug 29, 1935 to Jesse Allen and Fern Ocean (Potter) Tadlock in Long Lane, MO. Charlie grew up in Missouri as the eldest of 8 siblings. Sadly his older, infant sister Beaulah, only lived 5 days.

Charlie began his Marine Corps service in 1956, during the Post Korean War era, stationed in Okinawa, Japan and 29 Palms, CA. He received an honorable discharge in 1962.

He married the love of his life, Johnnie Mae Ashwood, on Aug 23, 1958 in Muskogee, OK. The next day they drove to 29 Palms, CA to begin a lifetime of sharing over 62 years of marriage and precious memories. Charlie loved The Lord and he and Johnnie Mae were baptized together at Timothy Baptist Church of Muskogee. He is lovingly remembered to habitually pray and give thanks before each and every meal.

Charlie made a living with his hands as a Union Carpenter Foreman and a Contractor, building new construction homes in Okla., Illinois, and Calif. In 1979 he began earning his pension from Carpenters Union Local 630 in Long Beach, CA, where he worked alongside his Dad Jesse, his brother Jim, and son JT on renovations and major construction sites, such as the LAX expansion project. He also taught certification courses under the Carpenters Training Program. In 1997 he retired and returned to Muskogee, where he volunteered as a driver for the Veterans Transportation Service (VTS). Charlie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He read hundreds of books and all of the Louis L'Amour westerns. He was a loyal fan of NASCAR, Hee Haw, Hank Williams, Bluegrass, and the Grand Ole Opry. He kept many dogs that never let him walk or sit alone. He enjoyed his horses, fishing at his pond, and gardening in his tomato patch. His wisdom, loving generosity, and humorous nature will be greatly missed by his family and by all who knew and loved him.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse & Fern Tadlock; sisters, Beaulah Ocean Tadlock and Barbara June Griffin; father In-law & mother In-law, John & Blanche Mae Ashwood; sister in-law, Blanche "Faye" James; grandchildren, Christopher Wayne Hallum and Jennifer Mae Kreins (Hogner).

He is lovingly survived by his wife Johnnie Mae Tadlock and great-grandkids Julia Mae and Aidan Louis Allen (Hogner) Tadlock of the home; daughters, Diana Mae Tadlock of Muskogee, Patricia Ann "Trisha" Graham & husband Rob of Muskogee, and Debra June Duncan & husband Kim of Muskogee; son, Johnny Allen "JT" Tadlock & wife Codye Kerr of Muskogee; sisters, Joan McGuire of Lebanon, MO, Virginia Sousley of Springfield, MO, Shirley Chapman See of Lebanon, MO, and Beverly Leatherman & husband Jim of Lebanon, MO; brothers, Jim Tadlock of Lincoln, MO and Larry Tadlock & wife Debbie of Buffalo, MO; grandchildren, Jamie Mae Triplett & husband Jeff of Muskogee, Ashlee Noel Steward & husband Travis of Fort Gibson, OK, Marissa Mae Tadlock and husband Jonathan Starr of Tulsa, OK, Robert Allen Devitt of Anaheim, CA, Clayton Allen Duncan of Muskogee, Kristina Sue Tadlock of Costa Mesa, CA, Victoria Kae "Tori" Tadlock of Huntington Beach, CA, and Shelby Austin Duncan of Edmond, OK; 17 great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

Services and interment of ashes to be at a later date.
