Kathleen (Kay) T. Ginn was born on July 1, 1939, to parents Robert and Florence Ginn in Blue Earth, Minnesota, and passed away at her home in Elk Grove, California, on November 9, 2021.
Kay attended school in Blue Earth, Minnesota, graduating with the class of 1957.
She married Robert Tacheny in September 1959, and from this union four children were born: Daniel, Debora, Michelle and Mary. They moved the family to Colorado in 1970.
Kay had a yearning for being a nurse. She wanted to help others. With the challenge of raising four children and going to college full time, Kay fulfilled her dream by becoming a Registered Nurse in 1976.
Kay had many talents. She spent countless hours making quilts that she designed and created for each of her children and grandchildren. These quilts are cherished heirlooms that will be treasured forever. Kay loved to bake. You could always count on there to be cookies, fudge, and bars in The Tacheny's freezer for visitors. She enjoyed working in her flowerbeds. She had quite the green thumb. Kay was the talk of the neighborhood when it came to her carpentry skills. She made a backyard deck, put up fencing, shingled the roof and put a fireplace in the family home.
When one reflects on Kay's life, she will be remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Sister, Friend and a person who would do anything to make you feel supported, putting others before herself. Her driving force was her heartfelt love for her children. We will miss our Mother. What we will especially miss is her presence, her unconditional love, and her kindness.
Survivors include her four children: Dan Tacheny and wife Debbie of Dove Canyon, CA, Deb Ullom and husband Troy of Enid, OK, Michelle Tacheny of Enid, OK, and Mary Kiefer and husband Dan of Sacramento, CA; two sisters: Ann Westermann and husband Gordy of Mankato, MN, and Mary Anderson and husband Ron of New Ulm, MN; sister in law: Jan Ginn of New Ulm, MN; ten grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Florence Ginn; and her brother: Richard (Dick) Ginn.
A private family service was held on November 23, 2021.
