A Celebration of Life and Remembrance for Paul A. Syoen, age 74 years, of Lahoma, is 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Gary Miller of Hospice Circle of Love will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Paul passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 in Lahoma.
Paul was born November 19, 1941 in Palatine, Illinois to George Edward Syoen and Isabella Angela (Horcher) Syoen. He was raised in Arlington Heights, IL and graduated from Arlington High School in 1959. Following graduation he became a journeyman bricklayer working in the Chicago suburbs. Paul entered the US Army in 1966 and served his country for two years "defending Colorado Springs". Following his military service, he moved to Oklahoma and managed finance companies in Oklahoma City and Enid, in 1976 went to work for the Enid State School as a mason. He married Jeanene Lorenz on December 27, 1968. They lived in Oklahoma City until relocating to Enid in 1976, moving to Lahoma where they have lived for the last 37 years. He retired from Enid State School in 1999. Paul was very involved in the Lahoma community. He served as a past trustee on the Lahoma Town Board, vice mayor, police commissioner, Mayor, and town clerk.
Paul's family was the most important thing in his life. He enjoyed participating in his childrens sports, coaching littleleague baseball for his son's team. He was always in attendance at Tracie and Eric's games. He enjoyed gardening, playing golf with his brothers, ice fishing with his cousins, playing cards with friends and traveling with Jeanene to visit family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Isabella.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Jean, of the home in Lahoma; daughter, Tracie Rochester, and husband Brian, of Norman, OK; son Eric Syoen, of Raytown, Missouri; two grandchildren, Cassie Nault, of Yukon, OK; and Trevor Nault, of Norman, OK; one sister, Elizabeth Richartz and husband Tim, of Island Lake, IL; four brothers, Bill Syoen, of Tulsa, OK; Jerry Syoen, of Enid; Alex Syoen and wife Lucinda, of Crystal Lake, IL; and David Syoen, of Rolling Meadows, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorials may be made in Paul's name to Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
