William C. Swope

August 15, 1865 ~ January 31, 1954

Mr. William C. Swope, a pioneer of Roger Mills County, Oklahoma passed away January 31, 1954 in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he had made his home the past ten years.

Mr. Swope was born in Astoria, Illinois August 15, 1865.

In early childhood he moved with his parents to Nebraska.

In 1889 he came to Oklahoma and settled near Edmond where he was united in marriage to Miss Celia Julia Burke in 1892. To this union eight children were born.

In 1903 they came to Roger Mills County where they made their home until moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1944.

He is survived by two sons, Edward of California and Leo of Reydon, Oklahoma; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Trammel and Mrs. Vivienne Stickley of Reydon, Oklahoma; Mrs. Irene Barbee and Mrs. Cecilia O'Hearn of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Mrs. Ina Mason of Oregon; eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two daughters.

Burial took place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
