Oral “Gene” Swint
July 10, 1939 ~ September 20, 2022

Oral “Gene” Swint, 83, of Leon, OK, peacefully left this life surrounded by his family, Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, TX.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2022, at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta, OK with Lawrence Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Gene was born July 10, 1939, in Oswalt, OK to Addie (Cartwright) and Andrew Swint. He was a lifelong resident of Leon. Gene joined the United States Army on December 12, 1961 and was honorably discharged on December 11, 1963. For his service, he was awarded a Sharpshooter with Rifle Badge and the Marksman with Carbine Badge.

Gene was a hardworking family man, who loved to play pranks on others. He worked at Marietta Sportswear and later went to work for Uniroyal retiring after 1995. Gene enjoyed collecting old money and brass objects. He wasn’t one to sit idle. He was always piddling in his garden and cutting wood. Gene loved raising animals. He loved talking, visiting, telling stories to anyone around. He never met a stranger. One of his favorite places to go was Horn’s Corner.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Lois Swint; infant brother, A.J. Swint; sisters, Voncele Bratcher and Melva “Olene” Johnson; and a grandson, Jason Marcus “Mark” Swint.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Tony Swint and wife Wendy and John Swint and wife Linda all of Springdale, AR; brother, Robert Swint and wife Lanell of Hartwell, GA; grandchildren, Amber Ard and husband Adam, Taylor Swint, and Joél Swint; great-grandchildren, Rhylan Ard, Wyatt Maze, Colby Maze, and Dixie Maze; best friend and running buddy, Bill Russell of Leon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary bearers are Joél Swint, Robert Maze, Wyatt Maze, Colby Maze, Carroll Flatt, Bill Russell, Dixie Maze, Taylor Swint, Amber Ard, Rhylan Ard, Mark Swint, Jerry Johnson, and Billy Johnson.
