Funeral services for Terry Swenn will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Clapp officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Terry Lyn Swenn, son of the late J.C. and Margaret Merle (Guthrie) Swenn, was born July 23, 1961, at Woodward, and passed away surrounded by family June 5, 2023, at Alva, at the age of 61 years, 10 months, and 13 days.

Terry graduated from Alva High School with the Class of 1979. He entered the National Guard after graduation and retired after 20 years of service. In 1991, he worked at JCCC as a correction officer then later transferred to BJCC and in 2006 he became a deputy for the Woods County Sheriff. He later began working in the oilfield in 2015 for Chesapeake Energy which later became Mach Resources until his passing. Terry was also a Volunteer Fire Fighter, retiring in 2017.

On April 9, 1999, he was united in marriage to Marlene Joyce Turner. Together they had three daughters, Emily, Lacie, and Julie, in addition to his two daughters, Tiffany and Kimberly. They made their home in Alva where they raised their family. Terry enjoyed fishing and hunting and in recent years he took up gardening. He also enjoyed taking cruises with family and friends and barbequing whenever he could. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends at his lake house in Kaw City.

Besides his parents, J.C. Swenn and Margaret Merrell, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gary Merrell, Bobby Brawner, and Sonny Brawner; and one sister, Patsy Brawner.

Terry is survived by his wife, Marlene, of Alva; his daughters, Tiffany Howard and husband, Jeff, of Yukon, Kimberly Swenn of Moore, Emily Swenn of Alva, Lacie Swenn of Woodward, and Julie Swenn of Alva; three grandchildren, Vincent Murillo of Yukon, Damien Leyva and Destiny Livingston, both of Moore, and Maverick Fitz who is due in October; mother-in-law, Beverly Turner of Alva; brothers, Kelly Swenn and wife, Lorinda, of Shattuck, and Kevin Swenn and wife, Christina, of Norman; sister, Linda Beeler and husband, Bill, of Alva; friends that he considered "His Tribe," Charles Bird and Bernice Tyree, Lance and Melissa Harzman and daughters, Kelly and Julia Schrock, Bryan and Anisea Rhodes, Bobby and Erica Kraft, Shane and Shannon Vore, Toby Kiryakakis, Ben Orcutt, Jerry Kohlrus, and numerous others; along with many relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to an Education Fund for his daughters.
