David Eugene Swearingen was born February 10, 1944, to Robert and Peggy Boyd Swearingen in Knob Noster, Missouri. Dave passed away October 6, 2022, in his beloved home in Fairview, Oklahoma.
Dave graduated from Knob Noster High School in 1962. Soon after, Dave was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served 2 years in Germany. Dave served as a Hawk Missile FC Crewman and earned National Defense Service Medal Sharpshooter. He was honorably discharged in 1967. Right after his discharge, Dave quickly began working at Phillips Petroleum Company. He worked for Phillips for 33 years and ended his career as a supervisor.
On August 17, 1968, Dave married Roberta Huscher in the Cheyenne Valley Methodist Church. The loving couple recently celebrated their 54th anniversary in August. With his wife, Dave spent retirement going RV-ing. The couple went on multiple trips in their RV with extraordinary friends and fellow RV lovers, but they most notably spent 18 winters in South Texas together. When Dave was not in the RV spending time with dear friends, he spent many hours in his barn working on building projects, welding, and refinishing furniture. Dave also enjoyed grilling his famous "Dave Burgers" for his family and friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Miller Boyd "Birdie". He is survived by his wife of the home, brother Gary and wife Carolyn Swearingen, sister Nancy Lairsey, and sister-in-law Daisy Swearingen. Many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, family and friends will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and friends per Dave's wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital through the Pierce Funeral Home, P.O. Box 15 - 721 S. Main, Fairview, OK 73737.
