Bartlesville - Richard Lee Swanson, age 79, of Bartlesville, OK, passed away on November 29, 2021. Richard was born on November 13, 1942, to Robert A. Swanson and Ruth Wilkins in Washington D.C. As a young man, Dick was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in Kensington, MD.
Dick graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland. He was an accountant/controller, and his career began in 1968 and spanned his entire life. He worked for numerous companies, including: Network Equipment Technologies (NET); Atlantic Research Corporation (ARC); Tulsa Inspection Resources, Inc; Thales Training and Simulation; National Institute for Petroleum and Energy Research; ManTech Corporation; Tri-Cor Industries, INC. On June 14, 1997, Richard married the love of his life, Patrice Allen Swanson. He had a passion for gardening and was an amazing chef. He loved college football and eating Maryland Blue crabs. He loved spending time with family and friends on numerous vacations and gatherings. Dick was a very loving, good-natured, generous person who never met a stranger.
Dick was preceded in death by his daughter, Ruth Ann Swanson.
He is survived by his wife, Patrice Allen Swanson and their dog, Ruby Grace; daughter, Tammy Leigh Swanson of Fredrick, MD; Sisters, Roberta Smith (Mike) of Fredrick, MD and Rhonda Singer of Martinsburg, WV; stepchildren, Shane Hainzinger Lilly, Heidi Hainzinger Balla, Mike and Jimmy Lebovitz, many sisters in law and brothers in law and nieces and nephews all over the US, whom he loved very much.
Due to the pandemic, the family will host Dick Swanson's Celebration of Life in the spring of 2022.
