Sondra Ann Carter Swaggart of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday afternoon, July 10, 2014, at her home in Blackwell at the age of 77 years.
Sondra Ann Carter Swaggart was born on January 27, 1937, in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, to Alvin Elliott and Mildred Ann (Roach) Bruce. She attended Deer Creek Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1955. She married Charles Marion Carter in 1956 in Wichita, Kansas, and he preceded her in death in 1986. She then married Al Swaggart in 1988 in Eureka Spring, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death. She worked at Conoco in the accounting department for fifteen years, retiring in 1997. After retiring from Conoco, she worked at Hometown Realtors. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and gardening in her flower bed. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was an active member of the Nardin United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Bruce Carter of Blackwell, Bret Carter and wife Michelle of Ponca City, Brad Carter and wife Lisa of Skitook; three grandsons, Andrew Carter and wife Stephanie of Pryor, Levi Carter and wife Molly of Bixby, and Clay Hinton and wife Jessica of Ponca City; one granddaughter,b Amanda Ferguson and husband Blaine of Blackwell; and seven great grandchildren, Jennifer, Addy, Carter, Kaydance, Ava, Erica, and Lilly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 16th at the Nardin United Methodist Church, Nardin, Oklahoma, with Rev. Robert Foos, Jones United Methodist Church, Jones, and Rev. Susan Payne, Community Christian Church, Ponca City, officiating. Burial is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17th in the Austin Cemetery, in Best, Arkansas.
Casketbearers will be Andrew Carter, Levi Carter, Clay Hinton, Blaine Ferguson, Rex Reese and Doyle Steffen. Honorary casketbearers will be Laile Wilson and Ken Gaskill.
A memorial has been established in her honor with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma and Nardin United Methodist Church c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 West Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
