Laveda (Tarkington) Swafford

Laveda (Tarkington) Swafford
August 29th 1932 ~ October 30th, 2016

Laveda Swafford went to be with Jesus on October 30th, 2016 at the age of 84. She was born in Swain Arkansas on August 29th 1932 to James and Clara Tarkington. Laveda's greatest achievements during her life were raising a beautiful family and she loved the Lord with all of her heart.

She married Samuel Swafford in February 1949. They were married for 44 years. Laveda was the proud mother to five children; Larry, Carolyn, Kathy, Sheila and Samuel "Junior" Swafford. She was also the joyful grandmother to 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Laveda's joy and purpose on this earth was her family. She served her family passionately and unconditionally. Laveda was such a lovely example of a Christ-like mother and wife.

Laveda was preceded in death by her father- James, mother- Clara, sister- Dorothy, her husband- Samuel Swafford, her youngest son- Samuel "Junior" Swafford, her mother-in-law, Bertha and her son-in- law- Jason Griffin.
 
She is survived by her Aunt Bertha Hayes of Fayetteville, AR, son and daughter- in -law, Larry and Kathy Swafford of Stilwell, daughter and son- in -law, Carolyn and Jimmy O'Neal of Evansville, her daughter Kathy Griffin of Evansville and daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Allen Winkler of Stilwell. Laveda is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many, many other loved ones.

Memorial services for Laveda will be held at Central Baptist Church in Stilwell, Oklahoma on Wednesday, November 2nd at 10:00. Burial will follow at Academy Cemetery in Evansville, AR under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.

Visitation will be at held at Hart Funeral Home in Stillwell Oklahoma on Tuesday, November 1st from 1:00- 8:00. Online guest book and obituaries available at: www.hartfuneralhome. net.
