Philis Ann (Roberts) Sutterfield

Philis Ann (Roberts) Sutterfield
April 5, 1949 ~ December 23, 2018

Philis Ann Sutterfield of Bartlesville, died Sunday in Bartlesville. She was 69 years young, and blessed with a big family and special friends who shared her life and love.

Philis was born the daughter of Leon Roberts Sr. and Patsy Ruth (Weaver) on April 5, 1949, in Jasper, TX. She was raised and educated in Jenks, OK, and fondly remembered those formative years in her life and she loved to tell stories and share her version of the infamous peeping tom story.

Philis was introduced to Harold Sutterfield by mutual friends, and they quickly fell in love and married on September 23, 1969, in Tulsa. They raised their family in the Tulsa area and their home was the gathering place for the kids' friends. Oftentimes Philis and Harold would have a relative or friend staying with them while they got back on their feet. After 23 years of loving marriage Harold preceded her in death in 1992. Philis moved to Bartlesville to be closer to family and worked many years at Wal-Mart, and sharing 25 loving years with Keith Boyd.

Philis was a loving and faithful provider for her family. Her two older children remember mom always had an afterschool snack prepared for them when they got home for school. At the time, they didn't realize she worked outside of the home because she was always home to greet them. Her passion in life was her family, she loved babies and the grandchildren could do no wrong. In her younger years she crocheted. From a young age she developed a passion for playing cards, and over the years the family had a tradition, spending countless hours playing just about every card game together. The big highlight of every year was the family reunion held every year in Sapulpa. Everyone received a reunion t-shirt and the 2018 theme hit home for Philis "This is my circus and these are my monkeys" with an emphasis on Family "Where life begins and love never ends". She had a wicked sense of humor, a heart that was always open and a fierce determination to live. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she could never deny them anything. We love you Mom.

Philis is survived by her children, Amy Tavernia, James Sutterfield, Wayne Sutterfield and Christine Sutterfield; significant other Keith Boyd; sister Jo Campbell; two brothers Terrell and Roger Roberts, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Donald and Leon Roberts Jr, and sister Sandra Sue Roberts.
