Cuma Elloree Sadler Summers was born on April 11, 1896, at Hamburg, Oklahoma.
She was the youngest of five children born to Edna Virginia Jarrett and Elijah Boon Sadler.
On October 17, 1918, she was united in marriage to James Earl Summers at the Baptist parsonage at Bethany, Missouri.
They spent their life together on the Summers family farm until the built their retirement home at Coffey, Missouri.
Cuma professed her faith in Christ at an early age at a community church at Hamburg, Oklahoma. She was baptized and rededicated at the Coffey United Methodist Church on February 8, 1976, and was a faithful member until her last illness.
After becoming a charter member of the Coffey Chapter No. 181 of the Eastern Star, she served in all of the offices including Worthy Matron.
Cuma and her deceased husband, Earl, will long be remembered for their loylaty to that order. She was also a loyal member of the Rebekah Lodge and Earl was a member of the related organization, the Odd Fellows.
She passed away on September 7, 1982 at the Gentry County Hospital in Albany, Missouri. She was 86 years, 4 months and 26 days of age.
Cuma was preceded in death by her husband, Earl on June 10, 1977; and her brothers, Earl and Emil Sadler; and sister, Ethel Sadler.
She is survived by her sister, Eva Briggs of Cheyenne; her son, James Earl Summers, Jr. and his wife, Beulah of Topeka, Kansas; her stepson, Gordon and his wife, Lucille of Pattonsburg, Missouri; and five grandchildren, Shirley Summers Chambertain of Patchogue, Long Island, New York; Dr. James Stephen Summers of St. Louis, Missouri; Max Summers of Maitland, Missouri; and Beverly Summers McMillan of Independence, Missouri. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Burial took place in Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, Missouri.
