Joyce earned her eternal wings on Sunday, July 23rd, 2023, at the age of 91 while surrounded by the love of her family. Joyce was born August 30th, 1931, to Joseph and Dorothy Jenkins, and lovingly raised by Dorothy and her step-father, Barney McBride, in Wichita, KS. Joyce grew up with her brothers, Jerry Jenkins and Jim Jenkins, whom she loved and remained close to for life. She devoted her life to raising her two daughters, Rene and Michelle, who gave her joy and purpose. Later she would marry Dale Sullivan, and blend her family with his children Sherry, Randy, Tamera and Michael.
Joyce’s daughters, Rene Harper, husband Tommy, and Michelle Owens, husband Chris, gave her six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Her family was what she most loved in life. She enjoyed hosting holiday dinners and family gatherings. Joyce had a close relationship with Jesus. She loved people to Christ and formed many cherished friendships in her church. Joyce enjoyed gathering with friends in her home, watching birds from her porch, baking banana bread, listening to music, reading her bible and taking trips to her brother’s cabin.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Dale, her brothers Jerry and Jim, great grandchild Gavin, and many beloved friends.
Joyce is survived by her children Rene and Michelle, grandchildren Tyler Sellers, husband William Perry, Lindsay Maxfield, husband Nathan, Shane Sellers, wife Sarah, Kyle Harper, wife Jacqueline, Quinlan Harper and Hannah Owens, great grandchildren Grace and Madelyn Maxfield, Hayden, Holden and Holland Harper and Oaklee Sellers.
Visitation at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant on Thursday, July 27th, from 6pm-8pm. Services at Victory Life Church in Durant on Friday, July 28th, at 10am.
