Brenda Garrison Stovall age 74 of Lexington passed away on June 11, 2023, in Norman, Oklahoma. Brenda Sue Chapman was born on January 20, 1949, in Logan, West Virginia to Carson Chapman and Mildred Chapman (Polly).
Brenda grew up traveling between West Virginia and California to be with her family. Her love of horses eventually led her to settle in Oklahoma. She was a hairdresser and beautician by trade and ran her own shop, BG’s Hair in Purcell and later Lexington, for many years. She loved talking to her customers and making them look their best.
Brenda found love when she married singer-songwriter Glenn Garrison. Their life together had only just begun when Glenn’s was cut short by a tragic car accident. Brenda felt she had lost her soul mate and was never quite the same. She found joy in horses and horseback riding. Brenda founded Jo Ella Ranch in Lexington where she raised and trained cutting horses for many years. She also enjoyed training and showing dogs over the years and was especially fond of Giant Schnauzers. Brenda was a firecracker with a heart of gold who touched the lives around her with tough love and brutal honesty. She wouldn’t hold back if she was sure that what she had to say could help you grow and become a better you. Brenda was a beloved friend and mother who will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Carson Chapman and Mildred Johnson, her siblings Jo Ella Chapman, and Lovell Chapman, and her soul mate Glenn Garrison.
She is survived by her son Carson Garrison and wife Brandi of North Richland Hills, Texas. Her sister Mikell Gravely and husband James of Palm Springs, California. Her cousin Sandy Baisden of Canton, Texas. Her long-time employee and friend Derick Worley of Lexington, caretaker and friend Delpha Burleson of Purcell, and friend Nancy Suchy of Purcell.
The family will gather to celebrate Brenda’s life at a later time. Send online condolences at www.wilsonlittle.com
