Marvin Arthur Stinson

June 16, 1929 ~ July 27, 2009

Windmill Man of Oklahoma

Marvin Arthur Stinson, age 80 was born on June 16, 1929 in Brady, Texas to Lewis and Fannie Price Stinson.

He departed this life on July 27, 2009 at Sangret Cristo Hospice House at 4:00 p.m. in Pueblo, Colorado.

He had moved to Wynnewood to Pueblo, Colorado on November 15, 2007, so his son, Mark Stinson could assist in his care.

Marvin graduated from Roston, Oklahoma and went on to college.

He moved back to Laverne, Oklahoma to help his mom. There he met Shirley Watts, married on June 17, 1950 and they had eight chldren.

He started a water well service.

On December 8, 1967 he married Eileen Shananhan. They lived in Yukon, Cheyenne and Leedey, Oklahoma.

Marvin inspired and helped create the windmill museum in Shattuck, Oklahoma. He served on the town board and Rest Home of Leedey, Oklahoma and was president of the Oklahoma Travelers Club.

He enjoyed the RVing and fishing. Marvin also restored and traded antique windmills.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen L. Stinson; his parents, Lewis A. Stinson and Fannie Elizabeth Price Stinson; his step son, Timothy Wick and great grandson, Justin Davis.

Marvin is survived by his eight children, Mary {Ross} Dillon of Oklahoma; Charlotte {Gary} Piersall of Texas; Rena {Randy} Sachs of Missouri; Tommy {Patty} Stinson of Kansas; Jimmy {Debbie} Stinson of Oklahoma; Price {Robin} Stinson of Oklahoma; and Mark {Diane} Stinson of Colorado; the mother of his kids, Shirley Watts Stinson of Kansas; sister, Evangeline {Bob} Willis of Texas; stepchildren, Eileen McGee of Oklahoma; and Michael Wick of Texas; nineteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; eight step great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends. Fred and Laura Lee of Leedey and many more.

In memory of the life of Marvin, the family has requested that any donations be made to the Shattuck, Oklahoma Windmill Museum, P.O. Box 227, Shattuck, Oklahoma, 73858.

Celebration of life, October 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at the Shattuck, Oklahoma Museum. - - bring chairs.
