John Wayne Stinson was born on September 8, 1940 in Blue, Oklahoma to Thurman Almun and Bernice (McManus) Stinson and passed from this life on April 7, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 30 days.
John graduated from Blue High School and then began his 22 year career in the United States Air Force in 1961. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and retired on July 31, 1982. After his retirement he began his second career with First United Bank for 16 years. He married Shirley Timberlake on March 6, 2004 at Mead Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brother and two sisters.
John is survived by his loving wife Shirley Stinson of the home; children Teresa Stinson Johnson and husband Alvin (Greg) of Orion, IL, Chad Stinson and wife Kelly of Rockport, TX and Celesta Caldwell and husband Brian of Frisco, TX; step children Wayne Timberlake and wife Sheila of Calera, OK and Lanita Winford and husband Mike of Midland, TX; brothers Marion Stinson and wife Norma of Blue, OK and William Stinson of Blue, OK; sister Mary Ellen Owens and husband Richard of Stillwater, OK; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of John's life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 11, 2014 at Mead Baptist Church. Bro. Kerry Groce will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM.
