Arlie Joe Stiner was born January 5, 1935 to Otis and Ethel Stiner in Depew, Oklahoma. He departed this life August 25, 2024 at the age of 89 years.
Joe, as known by all, grew up in and around the Depew and Bristow areas and was a graduate of Bristow Schools. He and Dorothy Swaffor were married in 1954. Two children were born to this union, Sheryl and Debra; they made their home in Tulsa. Joe worked in many facets to support his family. Most noted was his time as a foreman at the Sears warehouse and later in life as a custodian with Bristow Public Schools. Joe was a man of many interests. Gardening and yardwork brought enjoyment and accomplishment noted by his pristine yard. Fishing was a time to relax. Many hours were spent with a rod in hand as well as running trot lines looking for the next big story. He was known to have some good honey during his time as a beekeeper. Fall gave way to OU football and a chance to cheer on his favorite team. Joe had a love for cars and was a shade tree mechanic. He was stern but lighthearted all in one; mentor, teacher and friend as he cared for his family whom he deeply loved.
Joe is survived by one daughter, Debra Simon and husband Lee of Sand Springs; one brother, Billy Stiner; one sister, Wilma Kuhlmann both of Kansas; five grandchildren, David and wife Beth of Claremore, Daniel and wife Thalia of Gilbert, Arizona, Diana of Muskogee, Jasmine and James of Sand Springs; two great grandchildren, Kayleigh and Jayda. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 56 years, Dorothy; one daughter, Sheryl Sconyers; one brother Bobby.
Memorial services will be held 10:00am, Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Hutchins-Maples Matherly Chapel.
