Peggy Ann (Topping) Stiles

Peggy Ann (Topping) Stiles
April 30, 1936 ~ November 18, 2019

Peggy Ann Stiles, 83, of Bartlesville, died Monday in Bartlesville.

Peggy was born the daughter of Oliver B. and Irene (Jones) Topping on April 30, 1936, in Bartlesville. She was raised in Oglesby and played basketball on the school team. During those years she met the love of her life Daniel Nelson Stiles and they became high school sweethearts. Peggy graduated from Oglesby High School in 1954 and furthered her education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Daniel and Peggy united in marriage on December 10, 1954, shortly before he left for military service. After his military service ended the family made their home in Oglesby and she taught at Caney Valley for five years. Together they decided to relocate to rural Alaska to teach for the next 20-plus years, returning home to the family farm during the summer breaks. Once retired she worked several years as a substitute teacher in the local schools.

Peggy loved to cook and was famous for her pecan pies that over the years won multiple ribbons at the county fair. She took care of the home and Daniel took care of the farm where they raised cattle, quarter horses and alfalfa. Peggy accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and attended the Matoaka Baptist Church.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Daniel; three children, Ben Lando Stiles and Dana, Serina Lynette McGuire and Randy, and Tina Annette Stiles; one sister Mary O’Dell; four grandchildren, Brittany, Bradley, Danny and Yvonne; and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister Nancy Shipley.

Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Matoaka Baptist Church with Pastor Sherman Jaquess officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
