William Boyd Stidham, Jr was born January 29, 1945 in Woodway, Virginia to Edna Marie and William Boyd Stidham, Sr. He died December 28, 2013 in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 68 years old.
He grew up in Monarch, Virginia with his family where he attended the local schools. He entered the US Army in 1963 and had a career that lasted for twenty years until his retirement in 1983. For the most part, he served as a Military Policeman, which earned him many honors and awards. His awards include: Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal 6th Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Four Bronze Stars, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon 3, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. He served one combat tour in Vietnam and also some overseas assignments that included Germany and Korea. He also served in several stateside assignments, including Fort Sill, which he called home after his military retirement. After his first retirement he went to work for City National Bank where he held various titles and retired after sixteen years. He enjoyed restoring old Ford tractors and cars and collecting model trains and cars. He was a member of the Veterans Foreign Wars, Disabled Veterans, the National Rifle Association and a past member of Mission Village Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by both parents, William and Edna Stidham; brother, John Stidham; sister, Carolyn Stidham.
He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Lynda, of the home; two sons, William "Will" Stidham, of Lawton and Steven Scott Stidham, of Sevierville, TN; four grandchildren, Sonja DeLagrange, of Lawton, Matthew Scott James, of Sevierville, TN, Kelbie Noel Stidham, of Lawton and Collin Dean Stidham, of Lawton; mother, Ruby Mae Stidham, of Keokee, VA; two brothers, Warren Stidham and his wife Renate, of Monarch, VA and Randall Stidham and his wife Nancy, of Gray, TN; family friend, Janet Mozingo, of Lawton.
