Delores Jean Stidham was born May 2, 1933, to Eithel and Bertha Williams in Butler, Oklahoma. She passed away on March 2, 2019, at the age of 85, in Tulare, California.
Delores grew up in western Oklahoma. She married George Van White and they had 7 children; Sandra, Vanetta, Glen, Carolyn and 3 infants. She later married Monroe Matthews and they had 2 children: Monroe Jr. and Jean. They later moved to California. She lived in Porterville and Lindsay where she worked for the School District and retired after more than 25 years of service. On February 14, 1992, she married the love of her life, Preston Stidham. They shared 33 loving years together. They spent most of their time together traveling, going to the casino and enjoying life. She enjoyed traveling and spending as much time as she could with family members that spread throughout the United States.
She proceeded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Delbert Williams and Eddie Poole, 2 sisters, Anna Lee McDaniel and Martha Jo Swart, 1 daughter, Vanetta Higgins, 1 step son, Richard Stidham, 3 infant children, 2 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
She survived by her 5 children and their spouses; Sandra Brown, Carolyn Coots and husband, Wendell, Glen White and companion, Lelia, Monroe Matthews and wife, Lorrie, and Jean Ford, and husband, Orval, step daughter, Lana Stidham and daughter-in-law, Keely Stidham, as well as, 6 sisters; LaVeta Marshall, Wanda Blain, Betty Davis, Delberta Lynch, Nelda Johnson and husband, Robert and Linda Shannon, and 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.
The family will gather after the services at the DAV Building at 312 N. Eastern in Elk City for a time of fellowship.
