James "Jim" Stewart
March 26, 1947 ~ February 6, 2018

James "Jim" Stewart James Leonard Stewart was born on March 26, 1947 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Janet "Dolly" (Carnahan) Stewart and Leonard Stewart and passed from this life on February 6, 2018 at his home in Denison, Texas at the age of 70.

Jim graduated from Wilburton High School in 1965, Eastern Oklahoma State University in 1967 and Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Sociology. While at Southeastern, he played football under Coach Bob Thomas and earned several athletic awards and he was most recently set to be inducted this spring into the Wilburton Football Hall of Fame. Jim worked as the Superintendent of Hudson Construction in Oklahoma and New Mexico. He enjoyed helping people while working for OG&E until retirement after 23 years of service. Jim enjoyed crappie fishing, quail hunting, visiting his grandsons in Oklahoma City and delivering food with Meals on Wheels in Denison, TX. Jim's greatest joys in life were his sons and grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Janet "Dolly" (Carnahan) Stewart and Leonard Stewart; uncle, Monty "Buddy" Carnahan and grandparents, W.O. and Linda Bowling.

Jim is survived by son, Jason Stewart and wife Rayna and their children, Cooper James and Camden Ray; son, Randy Stewart and his daughter, Abygale Angelica; brother, Bob Stewart; aunt, Gayle Carnahan; mother of his children, Katy Pruitt; grandmother of his children, Toshiko Carter; and numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel; Family and Friends Hour at 1:00 p.m.; Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Ronnie Tipps will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Boggs, Jim Carter, Robbie Carter, Greg Davis, Jarvis Dobbs, Monty Garner, Neal Krieger, Darius Maggi, Billy Mickle, Ducky Pratt, Tommy Pratt and Ronnie Tipps.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Meals on Wheels 531 W. Chestnut, Denison, TX 75020 or any charity that benefits children. Condolences may be sent to the family at

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown's Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
