Nadine Marie Sternberger

The funeral for Nadine Marie Sternberger, 73, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at the Methodist Church, Hardtner, Kan. Pastor Elizabeth Kirkwood will officiate. Burial will be in Hardtner-Elwood Cemetery, Hardtner. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Kiowa, Kan. The casket will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and prior to service at the church.

She was born Aug. 30, 1936, on the family farm north of Alva to Autmer and Pearl Wright Gallon and died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, in Wichita, Kan.

She was a graduate of Alva High School and 1958 graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in teaching. She taught school in Cherokee and Hardtner. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Hardtner, and was involved with the United Methodist Women's group. She also was active in Delta Zeta Alumni Sorority, Alva, receiving her 50-year recognition.

Surviving are her husband, Lee Alan of Hardtner; three sons, Joe Sternberger of Wichita, Jeff Sternberger of Garden City, Kan., and Mark Sternberger of Wichita; one daughter, Lesa Zenger of Cuba, Kan.; two sisters, Barbara Ann Bouziden of Alva, and Betty Jo Pangburn of Alva; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two infant brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to United Methodist Church of Hardtner or American Cancer Society.
