Darrel G. Stephens, 94, of Oklahoma City, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019, in Oklahoma City. He was born November 17, 1924, in Scranton, Arkansas to Buford Erin Stephens and Rachel Inez (Hamilton) Stephens.

Darrel married Lorena May Danker on July 22, 1946 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He worked as a meat processor for Wilson Foods and retired after thirty-six years of service. Darrel was Baptist in faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He always raised a big garden and loved to share fresh vegetables, things he had canned, and his homemade pepper sauce with others. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved listening to his grandchildren and great grandchildren make music and sing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Lorena May Stephens on May 22, 2005.

Darrel is survived by his three daughters, Valetia Wellborn and her husband, Dolph, of New Blaine, Arkansas, Gwen Norman and her husband, Randy, of Edmond, and Alpha Sturgell and her husband, Donnie, of Blanchard; seven grandchildren, LaVonna Wellborn of Russellville, Arkansas, Laquita Sory and her husband, Harold, of Paris, Arkansas, Jason Sturgell and his wife, Kerensa, of Norman, Emily Brown and her husband, Dan, of Kirkland, Washington, Melanie Connelly and her husband, Brian, of Oklahoma City, Travis Sturgell and his wife, Courteney, of Norman, and Shelby Norman and his wife, Lindsay, of Edmond; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Sue Looper of Washington, Oklahoma; countless others who called him “Grandpa”; and many other loved ones and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 13, 2019, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 14, 2019, at the Eisenhour Chapel in Blanchard, Oklahoma. Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at the Elizabeth Hall Cemetery in New Blaine, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
