Willella A. Steger, age 90, long-time resident of Jones, OK, died April 25, 2012 at St. Anthony Hospital. She was born June 23, 1921 in Jones, OK to the late Wilbur and Julia Lopp. She attended Jones Elementary and High School, graduating in 1939.
She was united in marriage to Edward B. Steger on January 3, 1946. Mrs. Steger graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1941. She was employed at Ft. Sill, OK during WWII and worked various jobs over the next 25 years, retiring as an employee of the state of Oklahoma in 1982. Her primary occupation, however, was as a beloved wife and mother and an extremely creative and talented homemaker. Her numerous talents included painting, woodworking, and cake decoration. She created her own furniture and made rosaries for friends and family for years---many donated to overseas missions. She was an accomplished seamstress and beautician, and still found time for square dancing with her husband. She was a member of St. Robert"s Catholic Church in Jones from the time it was built, and participated in the Altar Society and in teaching religious education classes.
Willella is survived by her daughter, Marcella Morrow; her son, Martin; her daughter, Teresa Howard and her husband Charles; her son, Gerard and his wife, Alice; and her daughter Rosemary Steger; twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, Eddie and her sister, Mary Jane Orsini.
She will be sorely missed by family and friends.
