John Thomas "Tom" Steeper, of Broken Arrow, OK died unexpectedly on Monday, November 26, 2012.
Tom was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on July 19, 1948 to John Paul (Jack) and Lillian Jewel (Julie) Steeper, both of whom preceded him in death.
After graduating from Bartlesville College High School in 1966, Tom attended Oklahoma State University where he graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Tom married his high school sweetheart, Connie Bradshaw, on May 31, 1969. They shared 43 loving years together until his death. Tom and Connie welcomed the birth of their daughter, Tia Kristen who was the sunshine in Tom's life.
Tom was a man blessed with great business acumen, a desire for adventure, and an insatiable curiosity about how all things worked. He started his professional career out of college working for Cities Service Oil Company and remained with the company when it was purchased by Occidental Petroleum. He also worked for Sun Oil Company in Tulsa. Tom was a licensed Professional Engineer and was a founder and President of Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. (ECSI) of Broken Arrow, OK. The company conducts business in the US and overseas. He was an avid car enthusiast, owning and building many specialized sports cars over the years including race cars, stock cars and dragsters. He also enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He competed as a driver for more than 20 years on the Sports Car Club of America road racing circuit. His true passion was flying his own airplane. Tom was an accomplished pilot for more than 22 years and he held Multi-Engine Instrument ratings, an Airframe and Powerplant License and an Aircraft Inspector License.
Tom is survived by his wife Connie of the home, his daughter Tia Kizer and her husband Tim of Tulsa, his sister Paula Steeper of Nowata, his brother Tim and his wife Janet of South Carolina, his loving granddaughter Morgan Kizer of Tulsa, several nieces, nephews, many family members and friends.
The family will be hosting a celebration of Tom's life on Wednesday, December 19th from 11:00am until 2:00pm at the Stokely Event Center located at 10111 E. 45th Place in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Tom's memory to a charity of your choice.
