Houston Standridge

November 21, 1913 ~ March 30, 2007

Funeral services for Houston Standridge will be held Monday, April 2, 2007 at 1:30 pm at the First Baptist Church in Lindsay, OK.

Houston was born November 21, 1913 in Mt. Ida, AR and moved to Chickasha when he was two years old. He died on March 30, 2007 in Chickasha, OK.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; one son, Jim Standridge; one grandson, Mike Standridge; and one great-granddaughter, Danielle Standridge.

Survivors include: three children, Jerry and Wanda Standridge of Chickasha; Charlotte and Raymond McDowell of Mustang; Roy and Cindy Standridge of Lindsay; nine grandchildren, Rhonda and Jim Willeford; Linda and Tom Adams, Glenette and Tim Russell, Eddie and Kari McDowell, Chad and Angie McDowell; Adam and Ronda McDowell; Scott and Shanna Standridge; Jay and Anna Standridge; and Lee and Ashley Standridge; twenty-one great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Houston grew up in the Lucille and Tabler community. He attended school at Lucille, Chickasha, and friend. He married his high school sweetheart, Edna Cunningham on December 27, 1933. They started their life together in the Tabler community and later moved to the Amber community where they dairied and farmed. In 1959 they moved to Lindsay, OK where they were John Deere dealers until 1996.

They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on December 27, 2003.

While living in Amber, he was a deacon at the First Baptist Church, served on the Amber School Board for eleven years, and was active in all of his children's activities. Houston was currently a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Lindsay where he taught a men's Bible study for many, many years and also was a past member of the Lindsay Rotary Club.

Houston loved his family and his church and will be greatly missed by all.
