John Thomas Srader Jr. was born on February 10, 1929 in Enid, Oklahoma to John Thomas Sr. and Frances Butler Srader and passed from this life on September 20, 2015 at his home in Cartwright, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 10 days.
John graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School in Enid and later married Rose Marie Peters on June 6, 1950.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1948 to 1952 and retired from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation after 34 years.
John and Rose moved to Bryan County in 1989 and he enjoyed spending time with family and tinkering around in the shop.
John was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Gerard Srader; grandson, Thomas Albert Metcalfe; granddaughter, Misty Sisson; son in law, Charles Duffield and granddaughter, Tessa Anne Metcalfe.
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Rose Marie Srader of the home; children, Frances "Jo" Ewing of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Michael Srader of Denison, Texas, Annette Wayt of Cartwright, Oklahoma, Judy Duffield of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Paula Butcher and husband Kerry of Carney, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Christopher M. Srader, Monte J. Sisson, LeahAnn M. Ewing, Jonathan D. Wayt, Steva L. Christian and husband Robert and Amanda D. Wayt; great grandchildren, Thomas A. Sisson, Salen M. Srader, James C. Sisson, Christian A. Srader, Cole D. Green, Braxton E. McCarty, Cadrian B.T. Reed and KalinaJo P. Reed.
A celebration of John's life will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the home located at 541 Central Rd. Cartwright, Oklahoma 74731.
