Melba Jo (Martin) Spillman
October 12, 1953 ~ 21st of April 2014

Melba Jo (Martin) Spillman, 60, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by all those who loved her deeply, on the 21st of April 2014 after a battle with cancer. Born October 12, 1953 in Coalgate, Oklahoma to John Charles Martin "Shorty" and Jo M. Lee (Strawn). After the loss of her father, her mother remarried Glenn Strawn, the Dad of whom she was very fond. Melba grew up in Oklahoma and Kansas ,but Kansas was where she spent her school days. She graduated from Lewis High School in 1972. She was involved with choir and theater, and had many friends that enjoyed her company.

Melba married her high school sweetheart James (Jim) Dean Spillman on September 11, 1976. Jim and Melba had many adventures moving around Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. They had two children, son Jayme and daughter Nikki. She raised her family in the Woodward Area. She was always a mom at heart, taking care of her family and anyone who was in need. Melba worked in many capacities at United Supermarket for 19 years, where she loved meeting and chatting with all the customers. She knew no strangers! She loved raising dogs and providing joy for families all over the country. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to make Halloween costumes for her kids and grand kids. She loved gardening, growing vegetables to can, and flowers to admire. She was always cooking enough for an army and feeding anyone who stopped by. She worked for "play money" for her children to do sports and racing. She would switch off weekends hauling Nikki's soccer team to camp and being Jayme's biggest race fan. She loved to hunt and collect special antiques for her vast collection at home.

She is survived by son Jayme and wife Shelby of Fargo, daughter Nikki Seagraves and husband Kevin of Guthrie, twin grandsons, Keegan Albert and Kelton Luther, brothers Alan Martin of Fargo, and Frankie Martin of Wichita, Ks, nephew Josh Ford, nephew Brad Carroll and wife Kendall and children, Kinsey and Kason, and many other friends and family.

She is preceeded in death by her father Shorty, mother Jo, dad Glenn and husband Jim.

She adored grandsons Keegan and Kelton, and wished she could have had more time to teach them things.

A celebration of life service will be held at Lincoln Ave Baptist Church (5th Street campus), Woodward, Oklahoma, Saturday April 26th at 11 am. Everyone is invited to enjoy lunch with the family.
