Newton Coldern Spangler 79, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 in Modesto, California. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Brushy Community Center of Sallisaw on October 21, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Please come join us to celebrate his life.
Newton was born on April 18, 1938 in Hackett, Arkansas to William Benjamin and Ola Lee (Driver) Spangler. Newton was a self-made man, over the years he had owned many businesses, his last was Spangler Trucking Company which he retired and sold. He was very active in his community and always there to help his neighbors, friends, and family. He loved spending time with his family and friends, gardening, mechanics, and building. He also loved volunteering at the Brushy Community Center and being an active part of that community.
Newton is survived by his 10 children, John Newton Spangler of Pleasant Hill, Mo., Mona Lee (Spangler) and Andrew Stevens of Chandler, Ariz., William Bruce and his wife Connie Spangler of Blue Springs, Mo., Earon Coldern Spangler and his wife Sharon of Stafford, Va., James "Buzzy" Terrell Spangler and his wife Brenda of Harrisonville, Mo., Stuart Eugene Spangler of Portland, Ore., Charles Hugh Spangler and his wife Stephanie of San Jose, Calif., Zella Anne (Spangler) and her husband Brent Hansen of Manteca, Calif., Barbara Ellen (Spangler) and her husband Jeff Southards of Tracy, Calif. and Margaret "Micki" Elizabeth (Spangler) and her husband Chris Arwood of Templeton, Mass. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Christy Lynn Yancey and her husband Kent of Fulton, Mo. Newton has 34 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and Ola, his sisters, Ola Mae, Virginia Lee, Lola Fae, and Molly Nan, and his loving wife Vicky Sue Spangler.
