On Saturday, January 30th, 2021, Mark Aldon Southerland, loving Father of four; Grandfather of two; Brother to one; friend to many; passed away at his home in Edmond, Oklahoma. Born on November 30, 1950, he was aged 70 years.
He is survived by his sons, Trey C Southerland, Drew A Southerland and his wife Julie, Daron B Southerland and his wife Kristin, Tyler B Southerland; Grand-daughter Caroline, Grand-son Drexel; Brother Bruce W Southerland; Niece Erika M Yost and her husband Casey; Grandnephew and niece Barrett and Ava; friends too many to mention, and lives touched by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father George C Southerland; His mother Marion Faye (Wimberley) Southerland; and Brothers Gary and Keith.
He built a thriving business, starting in 1981, eventually selling to a large corporation. He was incredibly proud of the people that helped him build that business, and he cherished those relationships.
Mark never met a stranger. He lived life by one simple rule – Family comes first, and friends are family.
His sons were accustomed to hearing him say, “I’m proud of you, Buddy.”
We’re proud of you, we love you.
You will be missed.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 8, 2021 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel Edmond, OK.
