Bert Sober Jr longtime Ponca City resident passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020 in Ponca City. He was 93 years of age. Bert was born on November 7, 1926 to Bert Sober Sr. and Nellie Fern Griffith Sober on the family homeplace in Ponca City, OK.
Private family services have already taking place with Grace Memorial Chapel in care of the arrangements per Bert’s request. Bert wished memorial donations made to St. Jude’s children’s hospital. Online guest registry is available at www.gracememorialchapel.net
Bert was the seventh sibling of fifteen brothers and sisters. He farmed growing up until he went to work for Conoco in 1964 until his retirement in 1985. He also farmed at the same time. During his early years he enjoyed taking the girl of his dreams to the Newkirk dances on Saturday night. He married the love of his life Margaret L. Edwards on July 14, 1955 in Pawhuska, OK. During his early years he enjoyed dancing with his Margaret. Bert also enjoyed spending time with his family, and he was always there if people needed him.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Margaret of 65 years, 1 son; David Sober and wife Sarah of Ponca City, Ok, granddaughter; Joy Cordova, great grandchildren; Bailey, Bradley, Michael, Dylan Goodno and Mackenzie and Garrett Regnier. 1 great great grandson; Eli Brumley. Also surviving are half- brother; Garry Sober of Ponca City, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents, 2 granddaughters; Elizabeth Sober and Janiece Labon, six sisters; Grace, Dolly, Reva, Betty, Earlene and Billie Jean, 3 brothers; Rolla, Evert and Gerald, 4 half-brothers; Bobby, Keneth, Larry and Jimmy.
