Billy Eugene Snow of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday evening, November 14, 2017, at his home at the age of 86 years.
Billy Eugene Snow was born on April 6, 1931, in Blackwell to Elige Wilson and Savannah May (Hembree) Snow.
He grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1949. While in school he participated in all athletic activities and worked part-time for the Blackwell Zinc Company. Following his education he married Juanita Fay Stephenson on February 24, 1951, in Arkansas City, Kansas, and they settled in Blackwell. On July 11, 1952, he entered the United States Army and served during the Korean War. At the conclusion of the war he returned to Blackwell and in 1962 they moved to Arkansas City where he entered business as a welder with his brother-in-law in Stephenson Welding Service. After thirty years of service he retired and continued living in Arkansas City. His wife preceded him in death on December 3, 1996. On January 4, 2007, he married Jovita Socorro Garcia in Tazewell, Tennessee, and they settled in Blackwell. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and also held membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting and fishing. His greatest joy came from his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jovita Snow of Blackwell; a daughter, Cheryl Redding and husband Weldon of Enid; five sons, Gerald Snow and wife Georgette of Atoka, Westley Snow and wife Irene of Arkansas City, Len Snow and wife Rose of Blackwell, Glen Snow of Arkansas City, and Darrel Snow and wife Janette of Blackwell; a step-daughter, Sonja Short and husband Brad of Blackwell; a sister, Betty Duncan of Oklahoma City; sixteen grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Michael and Charles Snow; two sisters, Adelyn Cuthbertson and Anna Tarrant; a step-son, Doy Day; and a step-daughter, Kathy McClaflin.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 20th in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Arkansas City, Kansas, with Chaplain Tom Howard of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
