Squire McClure Smith was born June 14, 1860, in Harden County, Tennessee. He was converted in early boyhood and united with the Methodist church.
He moved to Arkansas June 18, 1882, and was united in marriage to Orlena Crabtree January 20, 1886 and to this union was born two sons, Otto Smith of Grimes; and Oscar Smith, who preceded him in death April 27, 1901.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mrs. Orlea Smith; one son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Otto Smith; three grandchildren, Wayne Smith of Grimes; Earl Smith of Colorado; and Lillian Marie Smith; two granddaughters-in-law Dalona Smith of Colorado; and Naomi Smith of Grimes; two great grandchildren, Leanna Bill of Colorado; and Dorolese Faye of Grimes; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was a loving husband and a devoted Christian. All who knew him loved him.
At God's command the Angel of death came near the close of day, and with tender care took Grandpa away. Cold and silent he was laid to rest. They say he died, but no, he is gone and all his loved ones here will miss him.
In Heaven he'll be happier than he ever could be here.
