Memorial services for Ruby Ellen Smith, 70, Hennessey were held at 1:30 p.m. Fri., May 6, 2016 at Hennessey's First Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Les Washnock. Cremation arrangements were by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
Ruby was born in Wynnewood, Okla., on March 27, 1946 to Trudet T. and Pearl Tomlinson and died peacefully Sun., May 1, 2016, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid after a two-year battle with cancer. She fought a brave fight to have more time on earth with those she loved, but in the end was ready to go home with her Savior.
Growing up on a farm in Elmore City, Okla., Ruby always kept the heart and spirit of a farm girl, even after moving to "town" in her early twenties. Shortly after graduating from high school, Ruby married Eugene Smith and like many others during the oil boom, moved to Hennessey in the late 1960s. She made her life and home in Hennessey where she enjoyed the love and friendship of many. Ruby always had a smile and kind word to share with everyone she met. She worked as an oil and gas secretary for Gerald Moore for over 20 years before her illness.
