LA MARQUE - Services for R. E. Smith, 60, of La Marque, an electrician, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at James Crowder Funeral Home, Dr. Robert King officiating.
Burial will be at Grace Memorial Park In Hitchcock under direction of the funeral home.
Mr. Smith died Thursday at Memorial Hospital of Galveston County in Texas City.
He was born March 19, 1923 in Chillicothe, Texas.
He was employed by Union Carbide for 31 years and was a member of I.B.E.W. Local No. 527 of Galveston.
Mr. Smith was a La Marque resident since 1951 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of La Marque.
He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Smith of La Marque; two sons, Ron Smith of Katy; and Dennis Smith of Angleton: four sisters, Effie Stuart of Dallas; Vera Fay Platts and Imo Gene Wilcox, both of Borger; and Wanda Binkley of Tucson, Arizona; four brothers, Melvin Smith of Hedley, Texas; Everett Beaver of Anson, Texas; Cecil Smith of San Luis Obispo, California; Jack Smith of Borger; and five grandchildren.
