Oneta Bernice Smith was born on March 29, 1922 to Elbert C. and Jessie L. Hedrick in Binger, OK and went to be with her Heavenly Father on Dec. 31, 2011.
She graduated from Binger High School and went on to earn a BA degree from Central State College, Edmond, OK.
She married Leon C. Smith on June 8, 1946 in Anadarko, OK.
She later attended the University of Oklahoma,Norman, where she earned a master"s degree as an elementary reading specialist. She served 25 years in a distinguished career as an elementary teacher in the Midwest City-Del City Public School System. Oneta accepted Christ atan early age. She and Leon were members of Country Estates Baptist Church in Midwest City, OK since 1958, where they enjoyed teaching young married couples in Sunday School.
She is survived by her two sons; Mark & his wife, Marie, Petaluma, CA; and Steve & his wife, Cindy, Choctaw, OK; and three grandchildren, Kristina, David and Laura.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her older brother, Vernon; and Leon, her husband of 60 years, who passed away in 2006.
