Merrile C Smith was born January 24, 1970 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Rhodell (Thompson) and Marvin Eugene Dodson. She died of a sudden illness on November 24, 2013 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 43.
She was born and raised in Lawton, attending the local schools. After graduating from Macarthur High School, she continued her education at Cameron University working for a degree in political science. She worked for EZ-GO for over ten years; she worked in all areas and was an assistant manager at her time of death. She met Joe Smith in 1991 it was love at first sight. They were married within a week; that was twenty-two years ago. She was an avid reader. If you couldn't find her it was more than likely because she had her nose in a book.
She was preceded in death by both parents, Marvin and Rhodell Dodson, and one sister, VeeDeanya Guthrie.
Merrile is survived by her husband, Joseph Smith of twenty-two years; two brothers, Christopher Eugene Dodson and Monty Gene Dodson, both of Lawton;; two nieces, Alex Dodson and Christine Stasheen, both of Lawton; father and mother in-law, Terry and Cathy Lane, of Phoenix, AZ.
