The memorial services celebrating and honoring the life of Linda Catherin Smith, 75, of The Village, Oklahoma City, are pending. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.
Linda was born January 22, 1948. She was adopted from the Catholic Charities by Aloysius and Edith Smith from Enid, Oklahoma where she grew up with four other adopted children. She passed from this life December 26, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Linda attended Catholic Schools at St. Joseph, and Memorial High School, where she graduated in 1966. She was among the first coed students to attend St. Gregory’s College in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Phillips University.
Having a passion for animals, Linda started grooming dogs as a part-time job that eventually turned into a thirty-year career. Unfortunately, because of an on-going illness she was forced to retire at an early age.
Linda was a “tomboy” all her life. She was a fierce basketball player in High School and early college. If sports had been available to women back then the way they are now, she would have excelled in several sports.
She is survived by three brothers, Tony, of Pheonix, Arizona, Dennis, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Jim, of Tampa, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews and over fifty cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary.
Memorials may be made in her honor to the Enid SPCA with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
