James Franklin "Jim" Smith, 76, passed from this life on July 19, 2016 at his home in Mutual, OK. Jim was born on September 29, 1939 to Arthur and Myrtle Smith in South Haven, Michigan.
He grew up in the South Haven area, and after graduating high school Jim completed trade school in electronics. He was united in marriage to Mildred Darlene (Downard) Smith on May 2, 1981 in South Haven, MI a union of 35 years. Jim worked in quality control for a company that made air purifying equipment. After his retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling the country in their travel trailer. They eventually started a home in Mutual in 2009 where Jim got to pursue his favorite pastime, amateur radio. He also liked hunting, fishing, photography, indoor target shooting, and boating.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Lenny Smith.
He is survived by his wife Mildred of the home; six children, Anthony Smith of Port Charlotte, FL, David Smith of South Haven, MI, Woody Lawson of Potosi, MO, Randy Lawson of Potosi, Kelly Rasmussen of Rice, WA, and Jeff Lawson of Muskegon, MI, and as well as numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the New Covenant Church in Woodward with Pastor Ed Dowty officiating.
Memorial Donations may be made in Jim's honor to New Covenant Church, c/o Redinger Funeral Home, Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663.
