Charla Elaine Smith of Hominy, Oklahoma passed from this life on May 21, 2022 at the age of 56 in her home.
Charla was born September 13, 1965, in Oscoda, Michigan to John and Virginia Walters. She was a happy child. Charla attended school in Sedan Kansas and graduated from the local high school. In school she was active in band, baton twirling and basketball. Charla joined the United States Army in 1987. After the military she loved to travel and drift with the blowing of the wind. Charla would just get up and take off on another adventure in life. Charla was married twice but spent most of her adult life with her long-time companion Darrell Wilson. One son was born to this couple, Haven Wilson.
Charla loved to draw, she would take color pencils and draw for hours. She also enjoyed going on road trips for the day, getting out and seeing the beauty of nature. She enjoyed riding motorcycles and hanging out at the beach. Charla loved her dog, Birdie. Charla did spend a lot of time in the hospital the last few years because of her health.
Charla is survived by her Companion, Darrell Wilson of the home; her son, Haven Wilson of the home; her mother, Virginia McCann of Sedan, KS; her father, John Walters of OKC; a step-brother, Brandon McCann; a step-daughter, Daphne and Les Harper; six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother, John Walters; and a grandson Dalton Hutchinson
Charla will be having a funeral service on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 1:00pm in the chapel at Powell Funeral Home. A visitation will be that morning, Thursday, May 26 from 9:00am to 12:00pm prior to the service.
Powell Funeral Service will be making all the arrangements for Charla Smith. .
