Nancy Slife was born March 26, 1955 in Canadian, Texas to Joyce and Gene Mathews. She passed away February 3, 2016 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 60 years, 10 months and 7 days.
Nancy grew up in Canadian, Texas and attended school there. After leaving school she started her family and moved to a few states before settling in western Oklahoma in 1980. Throughout the following years she, along with her children's father, David Marcum, began an oilfield crane business. She also found employment with Elk Creek Animal Clinic in the mid 80's and remained with Dr. Noble for 30 years. Nancy was married to Larry Slife at Elk City, Oklahoma on August 30, 1996. Together Nancy and Larry lived in Canute and Mountain View before moving west of Elk City where they made their home. Nancy's passion in life was raising children which was evident in the way that she became a foster parent in 1999 and had a part in raising 100's of children. Nancy also loved animals and caring for their well being.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, Larry, of the home; 7 children, Kristina Vaughan and fiance', Clay Tooley, Tuttle, OK, Chad Marcum, Elk City, OK, Brad Marcum and wife, Stephanie, Elk City, OK, Amanda Slife, John Slife, Jason Slife and Joshua Slife, all of the home; 7 grandchildren, Cameron, Tori, Nikyla, Kade, Jaden, Tatum and Kentry Marcum, all of Elk City, OK; 2 sisters, Linda Bitter and husband, James, San Antonio, TX and Sally Fuller and husband, Eddie, Turpin, OK; 1 brother, Jimmy Mathews and wife, Dawn, Perryton, TX and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of choice.
