Bryson Duane Slate, age 29 of Norman, OK and formerly of Vian, OK passed away Thursday, August 10th, 2017. Bryson was born August 5th, 1988 in Norman, OK. His parents are Brian and Tracy (Bruce) Slate.
Bryson moved from the Norman/Noble area to Gore, OK where he attended school and then graduated from Vian, OK with the Class of 2007. While in school, Bryson was a standout athlete earning State Runner-up honors in both football and power-lifting. After graduating high school, Bryson attended Northeastern State University where he was a member of the PIKE fraternity. Bryson was a "Free Spirit Traveler" and always on the go venturing wherever his heart pleased. He was a gentle giant who had a contagious smile that always brought life to others. He had a big heart and was always looking to help others, even putting their needs before his own. Some of the things he enjoyed are spending time with his GrandBarry building projects, watching OU football and basketball, riding four-wheelers, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors. Bryson will be greatly missed by his family and friends. And as he would say, "Sleep In Rest"....RIP.
He was preceded in death by: His grandparents, Lola Kathryn Esteves and
"GrandBarry" Bennington Bruce.
Bryson is survived by: His parents, Brian
and Tracy Slate of Corozal, Belize; His brother, Trey Duane Slate of Gore,
Ok; Sister, Tia Nicole Slate of Okla. City; 2 nieces, Brianna Nichole Jones
and Isabelle Etta Rivers, both of Okla. City; Grandparents, Linda
Jones-Huckaba and Phil Huckaba of Carnegie; Jerry Duane and Mendy Slate of
Lexington; Several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other family and
friends.
A Celebration of Bryson's Life is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 18th, 2017, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell, OK.
Interment services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 19th, at "GrandBarry's" place in the Gore/Vian area.
