Thomas W. “Tom” Sims
July 19, 1944 ~ October 10, 2024

Thomas “Tom” Sims age 80 of Enid, passed away Thursday morning, October 10, 2024, at his home in Enid. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Tom was born on July 19, 1944, in Berlin, Germany during World War II. There were times his mother Erika had to shield him from shrapnel from the bombs. She married William Sims after the war and just before leaving Germany, William adopted Tom. They came to Enid in 1947. After graduating from Enid High, Tom became a disc jockey for KGWA and other stations. In June 1973, he got a job as a technician with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company which later became AT & T. He met his future wife Sandra Spurgeon in July of 1974, and they were married a year later. They had celebrated almost fifty years together. Tom retired from AT & T on September 3, 1999, after twenty six years. Tom enjoyed model railroading and even had a layout at his home, and he loved riding motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Tom is survived by his wife Sandi; his son Michael Walters and his wife Margarita; 4 grandchildren Carlos Gomez, Eudaldo Gomez, Eldon Walters, and Juanita Walters.
