Brenda Joy (Patton) Simmons

Brenda Joy (Patton) Simmons
Thursday May 10, 1956 - Friday September 17, 2021

After many years of challenging earthly medical professionals, Brenda’s care was handed over to the Great Physician on September 17, 2021. She was immediately cured of her many complicating medical issues and relieved of all pain.

She was born on May 10, 1956 in Enid, OK. After attending school in Woodward, OK up through ninth grade, she returned to Enid in 1971. Shortly after moving to Enid she met the love of her life (at least until the grandkids came along), Randy Simmons. They married on November 13, 1973 in Anthony, KS. After she graduated with Enid HS class of 1974, Randy joined the US Air Force and they left Enid to begin their life together. Their first child, Loretta (Lori) Marie, was born in Las Vegas, NV in 1975. Elizabeth (Lisa) Deanne rounded out the family, being born in Enid in 1978.

The family transferred to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1981 where they still remain. Brenda was very artistic, a trained florist, and an amateur comedian. Sarcasm was her second language. A ten year breast cancer survivor, when her hair failed to return, she wore her bald head with pride. The family requests that those attending the service dress casually, no coats or ties, and wear pink if you can.

She was preceded in death by both of her brothers, Kenneth Patton and James Patton, and her step-father, Joe O. Martin. She is survived by her husband, Randal Simmons; both daughters, Lori (Paul) Jones; Lisa (John) Armstrong; grandchildren, Jodi Bennett, Erin Bennett, Sebastian Armstrong, Alana Armstrong, and Elliot Armstrong; her mother, C. Joyce (Patton) Martin (all on the MS Gulf Coast); two sisters, Yvonne (Marty) Danekind of Toledo, OH and Janice (Larry) Brown of Woodward, OK; and her chief feline therapist, Sunny, plus his two assistants, Shadow and Pinky.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave, Biloxi, MS. The family request donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Organization to help fight Breast Cancer in Brenda's honor. Donations can be made at www.komen.org
