Phyllis Laura Sikes age 73 of Purcell, formerly of Midwest City, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Purcell Care Center.
Phyllis was born September 2, 1942 in Mena, Arkansas. She was the oldest child of two children born to Fred Blaine Sikes and Oma Jean (Goodner) Sikes. Phyllis grew up a farm girl living near Dale, OK. She attended Dale High School and graduated with the class of 1960. After high school she married and raised one daughter, Deidra.
Phyllis lived and worked as a secretary in the Oklahoma City area most of her life. One of her first jobs was working for a bank in OKC. She later worked for Armco Steel Co. in OKC as a secretary and remained there until she retired. After retiring, she worked as various jobs just to stay busy. For enjoyment, Phyllis liked staying at home, working in her garden, raising and keeping house cats and staying in touch with her family. She will be greatly missed by her father whom she lived with in her later years, also her daughter Deidra and her grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by: Mother, Oma Jean Sikes; Brother, Derril J. Sikes; Niece, Kimberly Sikes;
She is survived by: Father, Fred Sikes of Norman, Daughter, Deidra Shobert and husband Claude of Maysville, Two grandchildren, Samantha Rumley and husband Bud of Tuttle, Robert Harvey and wife Nina of Moore. 5 great grandchildren, And many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be 4:00 pm Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell.
