Joan May Shotton, 91, of Ponca City, OK, died on January 29, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
Joan was born on February 2, 1932, in Hutchinson, KS, to Lyle and Bessie Smiley. Joan married John T. Shotton Jr. on October 2, 1949. She had many careers during her life, but one of her most favorite was as an interior designer. She loved to decorate for herself, family, and friends. In addition to decorating, Joan enjoyed spending time outside gardening. She was very creative and enjoyed art and music.
Joan is survived by sons, Randy Shotton and his wife, Oresa, of Ponca City, OK, Gayland Shotton and his wife, Catherine, of Surprise, AZ; daughter, Julie Gaskill and her husband, Rod, of Hugoton, KS; grandchildren. John Shotton and his wife, Heather, of Norman, OK, Randy Shotton, Jr., and his wife, Frankie, of Ponca City, OK, Kittridge Shotton and his wife, Elizabeth, of Jaffrey, NH, Jeremy Shotton and his wife Linda of Katy, TX, Daniel Shotton of Seattle, WA, Nathaniel Shotton and his wife, Vanessa, of Summerville, SC, Summer Box and her husband, Trey, of Edmond, OK, Dax Gaskill and his wife, Effie, of Hugoton, KS; great-grandchildren, Sloan Shotton, Sophie Shotton, Coshayta Shotton, Randy Shotton, III, Presley Shotton, Luke Shotton, Mary Shotton, Leo Shotton, Kayla Shotton, Katherine Shotton, Jacob Shotton, Codie Shotton, Caitlyn Barges and her husband, Justin, Kelsie Gray and her husband, Preston, Frances Gaskill, Emmett Gaskill, Farrah Gaskill, Ike Gaskill.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; and brother, Kendall Smiley and sister, Jackie Orr.
