The services celebrating and honoring the life of Roger Shortnacy, 77, of Enid, will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday October 30, 2023 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. The services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, life celebration home.
Roger was born January 21, 1946 to Luther Duel and Nellie Bannon Shortnacy in Lepanto, Arkansas and passed from this life October 25, 2023 in Enid, Oklahoma. He was raised and educated in Enid.
After school he began working and married Kay Rogers July 4, 1966. From this union came two children, Roy and Brenda. He worked for Legrant’s Cleaning Company before working for the City of Enid until becoming medically disabled due to a back injury. He enjoyed working on cars, gardening and lawn care. He was always willing to help a friend or neighbor. He loved caring for his family. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children Roy Shortnacy and wife Sherry, and Brenda Shortnacy; four grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Monica and husband Shaquille, Zach and wife Caitlyn; and two great grandchildren, Demarqus and Kenric; five sisters, Beth, Debbie, Lois, Joyce and Sue.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Maggie and Helen and one brother, Luther.
Memorials may be made in his his honor to Humanity Hospice with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds. Condolences and special memories may be shared with the family online at WWW.Brown-Cummings.com
