Tim Short, of Prague, Oklahoma, passed from this life on October 1, 2024, with his family by his side, at the age of 64. Tim was born on April 14, 1960 in Oklahoma City. He was the son of Merlin Ray and Cheryl Bernice (Elerick) Short. Tim moved with his family to Prague when he was in the seventh grade. He was a 1978 graduate of Prague High School, where he excelled on the football field. After high school, Tim attended the University of Tulsa, where he played football for the Golden Hurricane for one year. He later attended East Central University and Seminole State.
Tim enjoyed spending time outdoors. Most of his favorite hobbies and past times were out enjoying nature and exploring. Whether it be camping, hunting, scuba diving or playing the slowest possible golf game, you would always find Tim outside. Tim’s favorite time was dedicated to the young men of Boy Scout Troop #485. Tim was the Scout Master for many years and no doubt had a positive impact on many lives.
Tim worked for many years for the City of Meeker and later as the Project Manager for Main Street Prague. Tim also served as the youth pastor at the Prague United Methodist Church and he was part of the founding group of the Community Church in Prague. Tim was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, friend and scout master and will be missed by many.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Merlin Ray and Cheryl Bernice Short. Those left to cherish his memory are two sons, Jerry Short of Prague and Jake Short of Denver, Colorado; the mother of his children, Heather Short of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Lisa and Ernie Eastep of Prague and Holly and Fletch Rivera of Colorado City, Texas; three nieces, Rachel Steward of Owasso, Jadyn Davis of Fort Worth, Texas and Lauryn Davis of Fort Worth, Texas and host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Tim’s family has requested that donations be made to Scout Troop #485 and to Community Church ( communitychurchok.com / 907 1st Street, Prague, OK 74864 ) in Tim’s honor.
